A number of individuals and organizations have historically taken their own initiatives to implement some noteworthy development projects & activities.

The construction work of Zemzem Gerbie Elementary School in Amawette which was initiated and financed by the late Emahoy Gist Zemzem Gerbie and the Swedish Government Development Agency (SIDA) in 1973.
Road construction from Tere to Amawetee
The 16 km-road construction from Tere to Amawetee was financed and managed by Amawetee, Gereno and Wacho communities

The 18 km-road from Tiya to Amawette , the construction of which was financed and managed by Wacho and Gereno communitie

The 22 km-gravel road from Bui to Aymellel was financed and managed by Aret-Gee, Geyet-Wacho, Eshgedye, Endeboye and Aymellel communitie

The 18 km- road construction work from Kella to Acheber, was financed and managed by Nurena, Amawette, Enegedir, Kenz and Kesht communitie
Dammu Elementary School
The establishment of Dammu Elementary School was initiated by Dr. Fekadu Gedamu earlier and became functional in 1973. It was financed by Dammu community and Swedish Government Development Agency (SIDA)
